Morris dancers to get techno techno by 2020

Village greens and country pubs look out!  Morris Dancers are soon to be supplied with state-of-the-art equipment to make the old fashioned image disappear for good.  In a staggeringly bold move the recently formed government inspection body, Ofstep (created in April 2015) has teamed up with the Design Council to give a complete makeover to this, the most traditional of activities.    Project Morris 2020 is the biggest change that the world of Morris has ever seen and is likely to encourage even more youngsters into the activity.

Speaking on behalf of Ofstep, Chief Inspector Sir Cecil Sharphouse said "Our inspections over the past year have revealed common failings in Morris sides across the country. Equipment such as sticks has been badly bashed about and in many cases Morris dancers have been scavenging the countryside looking for replacement sticks.  Tunes have been used over  and over again so many times that they are beginning to sound tired and worn out.  We want to give the public, and the Morris sides of England, what they deserve - a 21st century Morris to be proud of."

Working with a major supermarket as the online supplier, Project Morris 2020 is due to launch on Friday 1st April 2016.
