Morris dancers are up in arms about a proposed new initiative that has been likened to an 'Ofsted style' inspection aimed at setting standards for traditional dance performances across the country.

Ministers say dancers are getting their 'hankies in a twist' and that the new guidelines are simply trying to improve the standard of performance for participants and audience alike.

A member of one of most traditional Morris sides said "If I see one of them inspector chappies with a clipboard watching us I'll give him a bash with me bladder"

The new body's website is to be launched tomorrow and Morris and other traditional dance groups are enlisting the power of Social Media to raise awareness of their cause.  You can find out more by clicking below
